Rónai is a founding member of Democratic Coalition (DK) and was a local councillor in Pest County. He also served as the spokesperson for the party.
He strongly criticised the construction of the Paks II nuclear power plant, advocating for Hungary to turn to clean energy instead. He also condemned the Orbán government’s decision to grant widespread immunities to the Russia-led International Investment Bank (IIB) and allowing Transmashholding Hungary, the partner of the Russian company Transmashholding, to take over the Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd., which will be involved in the construction of over a thousand railway carriages for Egypt.
Rónai contributed to the debate on the Turkish military operation in Northern Syria, which he labelled a “humanitarian disaster” and strongly condemned the Orbán government for delaying and weakening the EU’s reaction to the Turkish operation.
