BOND - Building tolerance, understanding and dialogue across communities
Launched in January 2023, BOND is a two-year project dedicated to combating deep-rooted prejudices and hateful attitudes, particularly antisemitism, in four countries—Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Romania. By fostering understanding, tolerance, and open dialogue, the project aims to build more inclusive and respectful societies.
The BOND project focuses on issues affecting Jewish communities and antisemitism, particularly among young people, while also promoting intercultural and interfaith dialogue. To achieve these goals, it conducts research on antisemitism, analyses antisemitic narratives online, develops educational materials, trains teachers, and organises youth education and exchange programmes. Additionally, the project strengthens interfaith and community dialogue and hosts local roundtable discussions on tolerance and inclusion.
The project is guided by the working definition of antisemitism adopted by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
The BOND project is funded by the European Union – all related can be found on its official website: https://www.bond-project.eu/.
Project results, news and events:
Antisemitism in Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Romania
One of the first activities of the BOND project was to conduct research on antisemitism in each of the participating countries. The research aimed to provide a comprehensive picture of antisemitism in Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Poland as a basis for further project activities. The research had limitations: it was carried out within the timeframe and scope defined by the project and in line with topics relevant to the project’s further activities.
All phases of the research were completed until the end of September 2023, so events after 7 October 2023, and their impacts are not included.
The research results are published in four national reports and one compiled research report. The Hungarian country report is available in English and Hungarian, and the compiled report is available in English. All research reports are available on on the BOND website.
Antisemitic Narratives Online
As part of the BOND project, we analysed the impact of the events on and after 7 October 2023 on antisemitic narratives online in the four participating countries. For this purpose, we analysed antisemitic narratives appearing in text content – chosen by predefined keywords – on online platforms across different media categories, during the periods 1–15 April 2023 and 1–15 April 2024.
The research findings are available on the BOND project website and here:

Antisemitism in Hungary after 7 October – roundtable discussion
On 13 November 2024, we organised a panel discussion with experts to examine the impact of 7 October on antisemitism and the Jewish community in Hungary. The discussion explored the following questions: Has the situation and perception of the Jewish community in Hungary changed? Has the perception of Israel shifted? Has the level and nature of antisemitism evolved? What antisemitic narratives are present, and how have they developed since 7 October?
The description of the event is available on Political Capital’s website and Facebook page, and the discussion can be listened to on YouTube (in Hungarian).
Additionally, Kibic Magazine covered both the panel discussion and the preceding closed roundtable.
